PROBATE AND CIVIL LITIGATION ATTORNEY

Gary Strickland

A former Maricopa County Public Fiduciary and State of Arizona administrative law judge, Gary Strickland offers extensive experience in probate and estate controversies, adult exploitation matters, administrative proceedings, and general civil litigation. In addition, he has served Maricopa County as a deputy County Attorney (Civil Division) and Senior General Counsel.

 

Gary has served as a Maricopa County Superior Court pro tem in civil, probate and family law proceedings. A skilled negotiator, Mr. Strickland is also available to act privately as an arbitrator or mediator.

In January 2018, he was appointed to a three-year term on the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He is also the chair (2020-2021) of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Arizona’s Elder Law, Mental Health and Special Needs Planning Section.

In his administrative practice, Gary appears on behalf of doctors, nurses, fiduciaries and other professionals in administrative licensing matters before various state regulatory boards, including the:

  • Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners
  • Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
  • Arizona Fiduciary Board
  • Arizona State Board of Nursing

He also affords representation to healthcare entities in matters involving patient capacity, consent and related issues and has represented businesses in environmental regulatory matters with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and in bid contests and protests in government procurement matters.

Gary received his J.D. (1984) from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Probate, Litigation, and Administrative Law sections), American Bar Association (Healthcare Law section), and Maricopa County Bar Association (Probate and Litigation sections).

He has presented at numerous CLE seminars (healthcare law, evidence law, administrative law, and probate law) and is a frequently invited educational speaker.

Gary enjoys hockey, has coached at the junior level, and stays fit with outdoor activities.

Gary has taught at the high school (Latin and Greek), college (history), and graduate (contract law and administrative law) levels and is a lifetime devotee of history and classical literature. He has five very accomplished and talented children.
