Lance Hough’s practice focuses on obtaining favorable results in construction and real estate disputes. This focus includes assisting contractors and subcontractors through all aspects of negotiation, mediation, arbitration, administrative hearings, civil litigation, and appeals.
Lance has experience representing Fortune 500 Companies, local businesses, local governments, and individuals in an array of matters including construction disputes, landlord-tenant disputes, land use disputes, tort liability defense, insurance coverage disputes, oil and gas regulation, environmental reclamation and remediation, and water quality compliance. His experience in construction law also includes assisting contractors and subcontractors in a wide variety of issues, including contract drafting and review, contract administration, mechanic’s liens, delays, non-payment, licensing, and workmanship and negligence claims. His experience as a litigator includes handling all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal court, state administrative proceedings, state administrative appeals, and both bench and jury trials. Lance received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the
Natural Resources Journal (Volume 56, Issues 1 and 2), and earned the Albert E. Utton Natural Resources Law Award, a Natural Resources and Environmental Law Certificate, and a
Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Scholarship Award. While in law school, Lance served as a legal extern for the Honorable James J. Wechsler of the New Mexico Court of Appeals, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico, and the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office.
